Lightweight mullite brick, also known as mullite lightweight insulation brick, is a high-quality high-purity refractory powder. It is a lightweight mullite product synthesized by adding organic compound fillers according to the required specific gravity of the product, forming by vacuum extrusion, and sintering at high temperature.With its light weight and excellent thermal insulation performance, the lightweight mullite insulation bricks produced by our company are widely used in the hot surface refractory lining or insulation layer of a variety of thermal equipment, creating conditions for improving the energy efficiency of the equipment.High-alumina refractories with mullite as the main crystal phase generally have an alumina content between 65% and 75%.In addition to mullite, the mineral composition with lower alumina also contains a small amount of glass phase and cristobalite; the higher alumina content also contains a small amount of corundum.


The refractoriness is high, which can reach above 1590℃.The starting temperature of load softening is 1600~1700℃.Compressive strength at room temperature is 70~260MPa.Good thermal shock resistance.There are two types of sintered mullite bricks and fused mullite bricks.Sintered mullite bricks are made of high-alumina bauxite clinker as the main raw material, adding a small amount of clay or raw bauxite as a binding agent, and forming and firing.Fused mullite bricks are made of high alumina, industrial alumina and refractory clay as raw materials, and charcoal or coke fine particles are added as reducing agents. After molding, they are manufactured by reduction fusion method.The crystallization of fused mullite is larger than that of sintered mullite, and its thermal shock resistance is better than that of sintered products.Their high temperature performance mainly depends on the content of alumina and the uniformity of mullite phase and glass distribution.


According to different use temperatures, multiple grades of mullite lightweight insulation bricks are produced. The use temperature ranges from 1100C-1650C. The ratio of each product is specially designed to meet different thermal and physical requirements.It has: high purity, low impurity content; high temperature resistance, direct flame contact, corrosion resistance in various atmospheres; low thermal conductivity, low heat melting; high strength, and excellent thermal shock resistance; high dimensional accuracy, and can be cut at will.


Fused mullite is mainly a refractory material with aluminum silicate as the main mineral phase, and has a series of excellent properties. The high temperature performance of mullite products (especially the high temperature creep performance) is higher than that of natural raw materials. Aluminum products come first.


However, due to the scarcity of mullite minerals, only artificial synthesis and mixing of synthetic mullite in a certain proportion can form a stable compound in the system at a certain temperature, that is, mullite crystals.The composition of mullite AL203 is about 79%, and SI02 is more suitable at 21%. However, there are a certain amount of impurity components in the raw materials, which will cause composition reflection at high temperatures. Therefore, as the impurity components increase, the glass quality will be The content of corundum increases and mullite forms a coarse-grained structure, which increases the porosity of the product, reduces thermal shock stability and corrosion resistance, and is prone to cracks.


According to this, there are two production processes for mullite, sintering method and electric melting method.The synthetic mullite system uses industrial alumina, aluminum hydroxide, pure clay (kaolin with low impurities) and pyrophyllite as raw materials, and also uses high-bauxite plus clay, or uses high-bauxite to directly synthesize mullite for use Production of mullite insulation bricks and other products.
