Commonly known as caustic soda, it is a water-soluble silicate, and its aqueous solution, commonly known as water glass, ,is a mineral binder. Its chemical formula is R2O·n SiO2 , where R2O is an alkali metal oxide, n is the ratio of the moles of silicon dioxide and alkali metal oxides, which is called the mole number of water glass. The water glass commonly used in construction is an aqueous solution of sodium silicate ( Na2O·n SiO2 ).

Chemical properties:

This product is alkaline and can survive in alkaline and neutral environments. It reacts with acid to precipitate sodium silicate colloid.

use :

Water glass has a wide range of uses, covering almost all sectors of the national economy:

1.      Used in the petroleum industry to manufacture aluminum silicate catalysts for petroleum catalytic cracking;

2.      The chemical system is used to manufacture silica gel, white carbon black, zeolite molecular sieve, sodium metasilicate, silica sol, layered silicon and instant powdery foam.

Various silicate products such as alkali and potassium sodium silicate are the basic raw materials of silicon compounds;

3.      In light industry, it is an indispensable raw material in washing powder, soap and other detergents, and is also a water softener and sedimentation aid;

4.      Used in the textile industry to aid dyeing, bleaching and sizing;

5.      Widely used in casting, precision casting manufacturing and metal preservatives in the machinery industry;

6.      Used in the construction industry to manufacture quick-drying cement, acid-resistant cement waterproof oil, soil curing agent, refractory materials; subway grouting, waterproofing, leak plugging, and mineral processing in mines;

7.      In agriculture, silica fertilizer can be produced;

8.      Ceramic raw materials, food preservation, mining mineral processing, and high-modulus water glass are often used as binders.

Transportation precautions:

Store it in a general warehouse or in a tank. The container must be sealed and cannot be stored and transported together with acids.
